Hunting Hill's Kennel NA Award Winning Litter Sire:
Sengpiels' stud AJAC V AMMERELL - BARNEY
Ajac v. Ammerrel "Barney" is a Sengpiel Small Munsterlander bred
by Ned and June Sengpiel. The dogs bred by Ned and June are
known to be of even temperament, outstanding hunting abilities
and solid conformation. The Sengpiel dogs are typically white with
brown plates or cape, and having little or no ticking.
The Sengpiel line of Small Munsterlanders began when they
imported two German Small Munsterlanders with the help of a
long-time friend, General Andrew O'Meara. General O'Meara had
spent considerable time in Germany and put the Sengpiels in touch
with Dale Richardson, a breeder of Drahthaars in Germany. He found
the best SMP male, Fero vom Lohebeeke, who scored a VGP I, 320
points.  And the best Small Munsterlander female, Catja vom
Brunnenweg, who scored a VGP I, 305 points, he could find for Ned.
Both dogs arrived in Kewaskum, Wisconsin in 1986.

Fero was a very regal dog. Fero's height was at the top of the height standard, well boned, and muscled with a
strong chest. He was an outstanding marker of shot birds with a great nose, tracking, pointing and search. He
was well rounded. He had a good disposition and was a handsome male with a white body, brown plates and
plumed tail.
Catja was very consistent, had outstanding abilities and she had a gentle
and loving disposition. She was Ned's favorite because of her steady
performance that never wavered. Together they complemented each other.
In March 1987 a German breeder, Gregor Schmidt, contacted the Sengpiels
offering him an outstanding young puppy, Jeiko vom Jakobsbrunnen
"Fritz". Ned and June's foundation breed stock was now established. "Fritz"
was the first Small Munsterlander Pointer to earn a Prize I in the NAVHDA
Utility Test and ran in the Invitational at ten years of age. Six Small
Munsterlanders have run in the Invitational Tests. They included Fritz and
four of his offspring: Aryan v. O'Meara/Sengpiel (Aryan), Brendan Boy v.
O'Meara/Sengpiel (Buddy Boy), Bridgetanne v. O'Meara/Sengpiel (Jaegerin),
and Andreas v. O'Meara/Sengpiel (Hans). Hans went on to become the first
Small Munsterlander Pointer to pass the Invitational Test to become a
Versatile Champion. The Small Munsterlander Club of North America, Inc.
named Fritz their first SMCNA Dog of the Decade.
The breedings of Fero and
Catja produced Anna v.
Sengpiel who was bred to a
Danish import, Koko Hans
Chivas, to produce Alexis of
Green Acres. The mating of
Alexis of Green Acres to
Fritz produced Ajac v.
Ammerel "Barney".
Barney produced many outstanding dogs, including a NAVHDA Breeder's Award for Hunting Hills "A" litter. Above is Kris Hill (with
Darby), June Sengpiel (with Barney), and Jim DeMeulmeester (with
Hunting Hills Apollo, NA 110, prize I, UT 186, prize II ) out of Darby
and Barney's NA Breeders Award  "A" litter.
