HUNTING HILL'S KENNEL and our Small Munsterlanders
|
Hunting Hill's Kennel is registered with NAVHDA (North American Versatile Hunting Dog
Association) as a Small Munsterlander breeder. We are also members of SMCNA (Small
Munsterlander Club of North America) and support and follow the clubs' breeding
requirements and Code of Ethics.
Hunting Hill's Kennel began in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1996 when we bought Darby vom
Krieger from Barb Krieger in West Bend, Wisconsin. Darby was our first NAVHDA Utility Test
Prize I Small Musterlander with 193 points.
In 2000 we purchased a 160 acre farm 1 mile south east of Brainard, Nebraska. In 2001 we
built a barn and in 2002 added a kennel, a bird aviary, and weekend house. We are working
hard to improve the habitat in the fields and we have built a brood house to hatch birds for
training. The farm has 113 acres of CRP land, a pond, and timbered area. The dogs and
puppies have a big area to exercise, train, and enjoy ourselves.
The 2002 SMCNA conference was held at the Hill's farm called JJK Rolling Hills Acres. To

Hunting Hill's Kennel is the home of Darby Vom Krieger, Hunting Hills Cruiser, Killian
Ridge's Ada, Cody vom Apfelbaumbach, Loose's Jaika, Cyra vom Zabelstein, Hunting Hills
Hemlock, and Goodmans Eagle Point Farrah.
Darby's first litter, Hunting Hills A litter, received a NAVHDA Natural Ability Breeders Award.
The puppies from her second litter, Hunting Hills C litter, tested in 2002. Cruiser, Clair Bailey,
and Chloe all received NA Prize II.
2004 was another exciting year for Hunting Hill's Kennel with two litters. Cody vom
Apfelbaumbach, who scored a 112, prize I in his NA test, 74 in his VJP test, and a 204 Prize I
in his Utility Test with a PennHIP score of .33 and Hunting Hills Cruiser with a 101 prize II in
her NA test produced Hunting Hills F-litter on December 30, 2004. Killian Ridges Ada who
scored a 108 prize I in her NA test and a PennHIP score of .33 produced Hunting Hills E-litter
with Peto's Illax (Rudy) who scored 105 prize II in his NA test and OFA Good on December
25, 2004.
Training and testing continues for Ada in the NAVHDA Utility Test, Cyra in the NAVHDA
Natural Ability Test, Cody in the German VGP test, and Jaika in the German HZP test.

On the last weekend of pheasant season,
January 2002, three Small Munsterlander
families-Hills, Thuns, and Turners along
with GWP Molly and Kevin Kittridge
hunted in Burwell, Nebraska. The record
high was 74 F on January 30, 2002. The
pheasants were flushing wild about 50
yards ahead of us. But a great time was
had by all SM's and their owners
Hunting Hill's Kennel has produced eight litters of Small Munsterlanders
and one litter of Large Munsterlanders. Since 1998, 41 SM puppies have
been born. Of those 41 puppies, 23 puppies have been NAVHDA Natural
Ability tested and 19 have passed. This shows the quality of pups
produced and the excellent handlers and hunting home they have been
placed. We urge and assist our Small Munsterlander owners to test their
new puppy in the NAVHDA Natural Ability Test
